80 Minutes/4 May 2006

95 MEGS OR SO

Thanks to all TWO people who downloaded and appreciated my last mix. Here's another one. Downloading isn't that difficult, really:

A. Click on the link. On the bottom of the screen you can choose "FREE" download.
B. The number will countdown to zero. Stare at it for a while.
C. Then type in the goofy, color code thing. Pop pop booya, it will download!
D. Unzip and enjoy. If you don't know how to unzip a file, you are not my friend.

Traxliztink:

1 The Darkness - Wanker
A B-side from the new album.

2 Holly Golightly - Ruler Of My Heart

This is the same person in that weird threesome song on the White Stripes' Elephant, and this song was recorded in the same studio.

3 Wu-Tang Clan - The Wu Is Comin' Thru (demo)

From the original demo tape! Sweeeet. . . .

4 Reverend Horton Heat - Baddest Of The Bad
I've been considering buying one of their albums since I saw a video of theirs on Beavis and Butthead. That was in 1996.

5 Cardigans - Losing A Friend
Hey, their video for "Carnival" was pretty good, so lay off!

6 Sublime - 5446/Date Rape (live)
I found a couple Sublime bootlegs on my hard drive and their sound was better than expected. These might be from different performances but spliced together for some odd reason.

7 Albert King - The Hunter
Finally I got around to finding that song Led Zeppelin covered at the end of their first album.

8 Blue Oyster Cult - 7 Screaming Diz Busters (live)
From an official live album. You should listen to all these .mp3s and then buy them on Amazon, you know!

9 Fishbone - Party At Ground Zero

Remember a time when "ground zero" didn't mean Ground Zero? Heck, I used to go to a youth group called Ground Zero.

10 Funkadelic - Back In Our Minds
If it's got George Clinton and it's from an album called "Maggot Brain", it's got to be good.

11 Tegan And Sara - Where Does The Good Go?
An album track also found on the soundtrack to Grey's Anatomy. Omnipresently I also saw them on a case of Jones Soda, meaning I am now required to blog about it.

12 Gustav Temple And The Blades - Pudding And Pies.
From "The Sympathetic Sounds Of Toe-Rag", the studio compilation that also features the Holly Golightly song. Grrr, baby! Yeah!

13 Matmos - Tract For Valerie Solanas
From a band probably best known for making an song entirely out of samples from a liposuction surgery.

14 T. Rex - Jason B. Sad
Summary: "Jason"! Saxamophones. Supergrass. Saxamophones. Supergrass. "Here I come"! Solo. Repeat.

15 Wolfmother - Apple Tree
I just bought this album for $7 at Target. It's freakin' great! Sounds like the White Stripes meet Deep Purple. White Purple?

16 The Destroyer - Jingle Bells
Sorry this is an .rm file. This guy was my elementary gym teacher. Once, to teach me how to swim, he picked me up and threw me in the water. As for the song, it's your typical pro-wrestler-sings-Christmas-carols-in-Japanese fare. Be sure to check out his amazing biography.

17 Mars Volta - Frances The Mute
The Mars Volta recorded such a long album that they didn't have space for it's 14-minute title track. This came out later as a single release. It doesn't start to rock until the 3:34 mark, but don't get worried.
